OUR PHILOSOPHY
Thoughtful objects for everyday spaces
We’re a small, independent studio creating useful, interesting and good-looking things for the home.
We design and make our products ourselves, using 3D printing to turn our ideas into everyday objects. Some are practical, some are a little playful, but we want everything we make to have a purpose and look good doing it.
We’re also conscious that making new things has an impact. We can’t pretend otherwise, but we can think carefully about the materials we use, how we make our products and what happens to them when they’re no longer needed.
We’re a small business, and we’re still learning. That’s part of the journey.

Lovely things : Lighter footprint
Let’s start with the obvious. We make things out of plastic.
That might seem an unusual starting point for a business that cares about its environmental impact, but we believe it’s better to be open about what we do than make claims we can’t back up.
3D printing has some real advantages. We can make products in small quantities, produce items when they’re needed and avoid holding large amounts of stock. It also allows us to experiment with designs without the need for expensive moulds or large production runs.
But there are downsides too, and we’re working on those.
We keep our packaging simple, avoid unnecessary plastics and make sure our printing waste is collected and handled responsibly wherever suitable recycling options exist.
We’re also exploring alternative materials, particularly PHA, a type of plastic that can biodegrade under the right conditions. Some PHA materials have home-compostability certifications, and we’re interested in understanding what that means for the actual objects we make.
It’s an area we’re actively researching and testing, and we’ll share what we discover along the way.
We don’t have all the answers, but we think making better choices, even small ones, is worth the effort.
Designed by us. Made by us
One of the things we enjoy most about 3D printing is the freedom to turn an idea into something real.
Every product in our range starts with an idea. We develop our designs using CAD and other digital design tools, experiment with shapes and proportions, and make prototypes until we’re happy with the result.
Sometimes things work first time. Quite often they don’t. That’s part of the fun.
And while AI is becoming part of almost everything we do, we believe there’s still real value in the human side of creating something.
We use technology to help us work, explore ideas and solve problems, but our products aren’t simply generated by AI or downloaded from a library of ready-made designs.
They’re our own designs, developed through a process of experimenting, making, testing and refining.
We think that matters.

We’re not a factory, and we’re not trying to fill the world with more stuff.
We’d rather create a smaller collection of things that people genuinely enjoy having around their homes.
Being small gives us the freedom to try new ideas, explore different materials and change the way we do things when we find a better approach.
Some experiments will work. Others probably won’t. We’ll share both.
For us, Diligent Dog Studio is as much about enjoying the process of making things as it is about the finished products.
And if we can make a few lovely, useful things along the way, while being thoughtful about how we make them, that feels like a good place to start.
Made with curiosity. Created with care. A little different by nature.
