Our Story
A little creativity. A little curiosity. A different way of making.
Like a lot of good ideas, Diligent Dog Studio started with curiosity, a bit of experimentation and absolutely no grand plan.
What began as a new hobby quickly became something of an obsession. The more we explored what was possible with 3D printing, the more ideas we had for things we wanted to design and make.
And eventually, we thought, why not share some of them?
A simple ideas, brought to life
We’ve spent many years working in the digital world, alongside some incredibly talented and creative people.
Technology has always been a big part of our lives, and we’ve always enjoyed solving problems, exploring ideas and figuring out how to make things work.
But there’s something particularly satisfying about creating something you can actually hold in your hands.
3D printing brings those two worlds together. It combines the technology and problem-solving we’ve always enjoyed with the freedom to design and make physical objects.
An idea that starts on a computer screen can become something real, useful and hopefully rather lovely.
That still feels a little bit magical.
Small beginnings
It started with our first little 3D printer.
Like most people discovering 3D printing, one of the first things we made was a tiny plastic boat. It’s a fairly standard test print, and hardly a masterpiece of design.
But watching that little boat take shape, layer by layer, was fascinating.
We were hooked.
Before long, we were experimenting with different designs, learning new software, making mistakes and finding excuses to print just one more thing.
Some ideas worked beautifully. Others went straight back to the drawing board.
And somewhere along the way, we realised that this could be more than just a hobby.
Making things we’d like to own
Diligent Dog Studio grew out of a simple idea: to create useful, good-looking things that we’d be happy to have in our own home.
We’re drawn to clean shapes, interesting textures and designs that are a little different without being overly complicated.
Sometimes that means creating something practical to solve an everyday problem. Other times it’s simply about making an ordinary object a little more interesting.
We don’t want to produce hundreds of products just to fill a catalogue.
We’d rather take our time, explore ideas and build a small collection of things we’re genuinely pleased with.
And because we make everything ourselves, we can keep experimenting, trying different materials, colours and designs as we go.
Diligent Dog Studio is still very much a work in progress and we’re learning about new materials, exploring ways to reduce waste and discovering what works best as we turn ideas into finished products.
We don’t know exactly where it will lead, and that’s part of what makes it exciting. For now, we’re enjoying the opportunity to create things, share them with others and hopefully bring a little something different into people’s homes.
